Celebrity Constellation Review

One of the newer ships in Celebrity's fleet, the
Constellation is the best cruise ship on which we have sailed. We're glad
we had been on several other ships prior to the Constellation, as it helped us
appreciate all of the design and attention to details that work so well on this
ship. Our cabin was an outside balcony, in
the middle of the ship. From a size and design perspective, it was
typical of most cruise lines, and therefore was somewhat generic. Our
cabin steward was excellent, but again that is typical of cruising in
general. Embarking and disembarking the ship were also normal.
Now that the average items are out of the way,
here are the superlatives, where the Constellation and her crew really stood
out:
- Dining -- whether in the formal dining
room, the buffet lines, or one of the specialty food areas, this ship has
very good food. And the variety is also very good, with multiple
choices -- for example, for lunch there is a grill by the pool
(hamburgers, fries, and pizza), a healthy alternative restaurant near the
spa, the hot entree buffet, a soup and sandwich line, a pasta station, the
formal dining room, and room service.
- Quality of food -- very good. None
of the tough hamburgers we have found on Norwegian ships, and nothing that
tasted canned or prepared in bulk. This is restaurant quality food.
- "The look" -- as you wander around the
ship, you are constantly reminded that you are on a very classy vessel.
From the sculptures to the carpet, to the constant cleaning and polishing
by the crew, the Constellation reminded us of a very nice hotel.
- Entertainment -- definitely a cut above
our other cruise experiences, including a wonderful classical pianist
(three standing room only concerts), a performer from London's West End,
and a very talented group of staff performers. In addition, the
Celebrity Theater was excellent, with good acoustics and sight lines.
- A movie theatre -- fast disappearing on
many cruise ships, this was one more sign of an attention to detail.
It was fun to settle in and watch recent movies.
