Travel Tips for The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan

Meals

Most of the Grand Hotel's rooms include meals on a modified American Plan -- breakfast and dinner.  Sample menus for both are on the hotel's website here.  We found the food to be very good, and the service attentive and prompt.  Occasionally the hotel runs specials on its rooms where only breakfast is included with the room price.  Should you reserve one of these packages, we recommend you have dinner in the Main Dining Room at least one night during your stay.

The hotel's recognition extends into its dining room.  The Grand Hotel has been recognized by Gourmet magazine as one of the "Top 25 Around the World."  In addition, Wine Spectator has given the hotel a "Best of" Award of Excellence.

Travel tip: If you have a nice room and enjoy the view, consider having breakfast delivered via room service.  We did this each morning, and it was a nice way to wake up and begin the day.  Just fill out your breakfast card and hang it on your door the evening before.  The hotel charges $5.00 per person for room service.
